I'm running a 1ghz thunderbird in the abit kt7raid motherboard, and I would like to purchase the radeon video card. However I have read where there are some issues with the radeon and athalon systems running the VIA chipset. Is there anyone who has a radeon in this same type of system, and are you having any problems?

I have never heard of any problems with a radeon and a via chipset. GeForce2 cards work fine if you use the detonator2 drivers since the detonator3 are unstable with via chipsets(for the most part some people got them to work corectly though).

I know I've heard of a problem with the VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset for P3s (which I've also heard has a fix). But I haven't heard anything about any issues with Athlon based VIA boards.

...nothing like the internet/forums to babysit a flu...ahhchooo!...here is a link

P3 with VIA system here, no problems. The only "problem" I know of is that the older drivers are slower for Athlon systems, but newer drivers fixed that problem.

Im running a radeon 64mb retail on kt7 with 1ghz amd retail cpu and all appears fine for me. windows isn't crashing or anything. games all appear to boot thus far and play pretty speedy with no artificats and image quality appears good. im using 3056 drivers and my cpu is overclocked to 1250mhz and radeon to 195mhz.

I have 4x agp enabled and I believe I disabled ati's startup agp controller. their is another thing that loads called ati something but I haven't turned that off yet cause I don't know what it does.

but I haven't actually gone through all my games yet as Ive only been up a week. But their haven't been any wierd slowdowns or crashes with this system yet so Im hoping all is good. unreal tournament is playing great with all options on.

A lot of people (including me) have had problems with the Radeon and VIA KT133 chipsets.. Do this..

1. Make sure you have no drivers from your previous video card on your system..

2. Download and UNINSTALL the VIA AGP VxD driver.

3. Reboot into safe mode, and install the AGP VxD driver in "normal" mode.

4. Reboot into normal mode and install the Radeon drivers.

Id I don't do it like this, Windows eventually locks up after about an hour and all games lock up after about three minutes. Once everything's worked out, though, you won't experience any more problems.
