Allstarshop does that alot. Sometimes they have some good deals othertimes they gouge like a MOFO. back in the day I got my 9500 pro ther for 175 while everywhere else had them for 200. When 9800 Pro's were released they charged extemely aburd prices. its really hit or miss there.
 
Here in Quebec City/Canada, everyone is ripping us off.... we are just oh so stupid.

Just as an exemple, this is the best card I can get right now :
ABIT VGA R9800XT 256MB DDR ATI 9800XT 8X TVOUT DVI POWER DVD5.0(SOFTWARE) 707.25$
Bear in mind this is 700$ Can but still.
And this is a shop with a good price reputation ! :disgust:

Anyway, their most be a thread dedicated to the bigest ripoff, I think I'll do a little search.
 
Mareg - If you really have to pay that much, I think $700 can is $500 us or so, then it almost seems like it would be worth it to take a drive south one day. I'm also surprised that you can't get any of the online shops to send you something. Eitherway I have a hard time believing that Canadians have it that bad buying new hardware.
 
If I'm not mistaken isn't ATI a Canadian company?
You would think they have it better. I know my Hercules card was available in the UK long before the US and it was cheaper, (if you do the pounds to dollars conversion).
Even the shipping would have been reasonable.

I am Canadian and We have just as many places online to buy stuff Cheaper as states...that $700 for a Radeon 9800?? That has to be so out of date

I use NCIX.com personally, and

for the above, yes, ATI is a Canadian Company
 
Hey, I didn't say that we couldn't use online shoping... just that most people going to the shop next door here don't even think about next gen graphic card.
And just so you know, the price I listed didn't have taxes included, wich are 15% here in this "state". An other point I want to clarified, I don't want to generalize the ripoff to all of Canada. Just the province of Quebec. We just "generally" buy without any regard to the "outside" world.... very sad.

I will give you an other exemple of a ripoff at the said shop :
ASUS V8420 DELUXE GF4 TI4200 AGP4X 128M DDR W/SMARTDOC/TV-OUT/VIDEO-IN/3D-GLASS/ 342.70$ (tax not included)

Maybe its the 3D-Glass !?

Edit : Oh sorry, I did say that this was the best graphic card I could get in my earlier post... my bad sorry.
should have said that its the best I can get without going online.
