I have issue with my video card, Radeon X850 Pro AGP. It might overheating, have bit chip or both. My computer run solid when I don't use the GPU to max. Prime95 and Memtest86 runs for hours without any problem. However, whenever I start playing games I had stability issues. I however I have been having problems with my GPU for months.
Usually the computer ends up crashing when playing games and pushing GPU. The often can't reboot up, it gives beeps. According my MSI D-Bracket Diagnostic it hangs on the Video Card. I had my X850 send back ATI about 2 year to get fixed, but that didn't do much. Also, another problem is Linux refuse to boot or install with ATI card. Usually Linux is more stable than WinXp. I did try run my computer with an old Nvida Geforce 440 MX card and it seem to run stable. Linux loads, games (which can actually run on 440 MX) does fine without issue.
One problem maybe an Heat Issue. My system run hot. I have temperature probe near my GPU and last it stated over 60C when my GPU was getting pushed. Usually its around 44C. Rest of my system also run pretty hot with CPU usually running over 60C too (but haven't have any crashes with CPU intensive stuff like Prime95). This too hold for GPU? Not sure how to see core temp in my GPU. Putting Nvida 440 MX in doesn't help testing this since I am sure it give out so little heat compare to X850 Pro.
Other problem might just GPU is busted for some reason. I guess I could try replacing my GPU with new power one, but if it and Heat issue that problem same problem and I would wasted $$$.
My system specs are below. Any suggestion on what to do next would be helpful.
