Radeon x700 Pro 256MB?

My brother-in-law wants to know if he should upgrade his Radeon 9600 to a Radeon x700. He said he can get the x700 for $99. So would this be a good upgrade/good deal? If not what do you guys recommend? He doesn't want to spend a lot of money.

the upgrade is a decent boost in performance, however, if you are upgrading, you might as well go higher. If he doesnt have money, try keeping the 9600 for a bit more until he can jump higher.

PS. if he's after that $99 BF deal at BB, he's not saving a humongous amount of money. THe x700 can sell for that price on newegg normally.
 
the card is better but it will not really boost things remarkably.
see what you can sell the card on ebay for and then make your decision about buying this card.
