Radeon X600 PRO 128MB PCI Express $32.00 no rebates

Update: received mine and they're not fanless, as shown in the photo.

Not a gaming card but a good card for budget builds and a big step-up from most integrated graphics. Roughly equivalent to Radeon 9600 PRO in performance (same configuration = 4 pixel x 2 shader pipelines).

MSI Radeon X600 PRO 128MB (128-bit) PCI Express NEW OEM - $32.00 @ PC Parts Ohio/Unlimited (plus shipping)

Dual Display DVI/VGA
S-Video Out
PCI-Express ×16
128 MB DDR (128-bit)
Engine Clock 400 MHz
Memory Clock 550 MHz (275)

I purchased two of these shipped to California zip, UPS Ground was $7.00 - no sales tax outside of OH. I've purchased a couple times from PC Parts Ohio and no complaints. Previously, I purchased several surplus/used Radeon 8500 128MB and Radeon 9100 PRO 128MB AGP cards from them. All arrived in good condition and 100% working, but this MSI card is supposed to be NEW OEM/BULK.

Most likely with 64-bit memory interface (i.e. X600 "SE" or "LE"). This card uses 128-bit.

How much better is this card performance wise compared to an ATI Radeon X300?

I would think that it would be barely any faster.

Looks to be in the 20-40% range faster than X300, comparing the X300 (not X300SE) and 128bit RAM version of X600 (which this claims to be).

I have a Dell X600 Se in my main rig and I got it for $22 shipped on ebay. I love it!

can't beat $22 for a card I can play halo on and pci-e!

Yeah not that hot, since you can get them on Ebay for same price, shipped very easily...and most likely a little cheaper.

unless you hate ebay... 🙂

Now if someone was dropping a bunch of these in our local FS/FT forums, i would be all over it 😉

The ones on Ebay going for less are "SE" versions, either with lower clocks, 64-bit memory interface, or both.
note- 30day warranty only.
You can increase that to 90 days for $1.95 (which I did).

I couldn't hear it over the CPU fan that I have, which is rated @ 30dBA.
no fan. heatsink only
Its not fanless as shown in the photo. I ordered two and the card is identical to the MSI RX600PRO-TD128E

Unless the reseller is shipping different versions of it now.

thanks

is this better a better deal than this at newegg:

Not if you want a fanless card or composite RCA video output instead of S-VID.

Otherwise, the X600 PRO will be a good 30% faster or more. My 3DMark03 score was 3460 on a lowly Sempron64 2800+ with default settings and clocks.

thanks..most concerned with 2D apps...I will be building a computer(actually 2 for just Dragon NAturally Speaking)..so 3D is not an issue for me at all

Its definitely a superior card for roughly the same price (actually a bit less). The X300 and X600 are based on R300 GPU and support the same feature set. The X300 is just a cut-down (and slower) version.
