Radeon X1900 Manual Leaked

They list the "48 shader processors" and the "8 vertex shader processors" but no mention of pipelines. Unless I am missing it.

Whatever man. How many times do we have to hear about pipelines from you? Yes, the nVidia cards have more "pipelines" in the traditional sense, but the ATI cards have more "shader units". Why do you always bring up ATI's lack of pipelines but never mention nVidia's lack of shader units? 😕

Because some people seem to think 16 pipes doesnt make a good card. Which is silly, but whatever. Many NV fans think along those lines.

Isn't the pixel sh!t of the next gen cards suppose to look something like this

G71: 32 Pixel pipelines+16 Pixel shaders
R580 (AKA X1900): 16 Pixel Pipelines+48 Pixel shaders.

Don't know about you, but I think, even with the 48 pixel shaders, the G71 will have the edge this round.

Repeat after me: The r5xx cards do not have pipelines!

The r580 has:
48 pixel shaders
16 texture units
16 ROP's

There is no 1 to 1 connection between any of these. The pixel shaders and the texture units can work independently of each other, and are both controlled by the thread scheduler logic. You dont have 16, 24, or 32 indivudual pipes, each with it's own pixel shader and texture unit shuffling data back and forth.
