We never questioned the fact that they would release AGP cards. The question was will they make any AGP cards as good or if not better then the 7800GT or X1800XL in AGP. While their is a chance that we might see a 8600GT that is no more then a tweaked 7800GT in AGP, for the most part I think they have both come out with a resonding NO. Even if the 8600GT (I don't know the names just assumtions) were to come out on AGP and was as fast as a 7800GT it would still put AGP behind by over a year, with who knows how many performance increases on the PCIe end.

Yes, but gaming ain't the only use ya know? For those still using sktA+Soundstorm for HTPC this is very good news. The more content like WMV HD and H.264 a card can handle the better! While the system presently can't handle H.264 decode smoothly, 1 of these will be able to in the near future when Cats include the support. IMO it is good to see cards like these give that platform longer legs.

I suppose NewEgg might have put it in the two hours since you posted, but since NewEgg actually keeps inventory in their warehouses, that just means it shipped a couple of days ago. PowerColor Radeon X1600XT instock today, Dec 7th.
