I was thinking of buying a radeon. I play DVD's and game. I was wondering if the Radeons still take a performance hit on Win2k? Has been progress on that issue? Also, what is the real world benefit to Radeon's DVD iDCT features {on an athlon 700}?
thanks in advance

the radeon's performance is only if you use the ati dvd software to watch dvds. and i don't think there's really a performance hit in win2k. mine works great. better than i ever expected.

The new multimedia 7.1 with the directx video patch microsoft released fixed all problems users complained about.
Now everything works as it should. Win2k is not hindered by much if any...if so only as much as any other program.

Dvd quality on the radeon is the best.
The idct makes the image sharper. I can notice the black beign actually black. You may think this is funny but youd be amazed how much other cards display black as watered down or dull.

I highly recommned a radeon. I have an AIW and i love it.
