Radeon w/ Via chipset FPS Help.

I love my Radeon 64, but lately ive been moving away from my usual adventure games and into FPS's. I have noticed though, that my benchmarks dont match up with the reviews Ive been reading. I maxed all the settings in Q3 and ran a time demo in 32 bit color at 800x600 and my radeon chugs along at about 49.6 FPS. I then ran another at 1024x768 and it provides a rather anemic 40 FPS. I thought this was kind of low so I checked anands review of the 32SDR to find that Im only getting about 50% of the FPS that the article suggests I should be getting. Now I use w2k exclusively, and Im currently running the drivers released on 8/5/2000, and I'm aware that there is about a 10-15% hit in FPS, but I'm absolutely sure that its not a 50% decrease, which is what I'm experiencing. I cant seem to get any other driver sets to work either, and I am very disheartened by the fact that Giants feels so choppy. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Rest of your specs? CPU? Mobo? Mem? etc. In Q3 1.27 I get about 78 FPS in demo127 1024 x 768 x 32 everything maxed out. I'm not running Win2K (yet), but the best drivers are supposed to be the 5.13.3100 drivers, along with DX8.

You can try the following beta drivers that will definitely speedup your Win2K speed issues. While you are at this, it is helpful if you can state your hardware system and configuration. The recent Win2K release 3100 drivers should be a better bet. You can also download any of the drivers from here which also summarizes various release dates. ATI's driver development group has been very busy of late with incremental improvements released for feedback prior to production release drivers being made available.
