AMD has app certification available for all their FirePro line of cards, and looking at http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/workstation/certified I can't find any Vega drivers that would have app certification.

As we all know, this Vega Frontier edition is meant for professionals, or is it?
Would this be akin to Threadripper (prosumer) and there is another Vega in the pipeline that is actually for the pros?

https://pro.radeon.com/en-us/product/radeon-vega-frontier-edition/ clearly states that this Vega is for 'Workstation Workloads', so, if that isn't for pros, I dunno what is.

Yet another AMD PR marketing blunder?

WX 9100 is the Vega "Pro" version. Vega FE is like Titan where its "semi-pro" card, though Vega will have differing driver modes unlike Titans.

They promised chicken salad but have offered up a PBJ while you wait for the manifestation of their promise while the Wizard of Oz makes smoke and thundering's from a hidden room.

I, like so many other people, are very disappointed by the release of the FE who's performance is not commensurate with asking price. Their marketing created the customer expectations of performance that failed to appear with this card. I have a difficult time believing that the RX will be any better with half the memory.

At least AMD is consistent about building up a mountain of hype that they can't back up with actual performance. I'm afraid that the 16 core threadripper is going to fall prey to marketing too.

I really wish that ATI would've been acquired by Intel instead. If they had it this would be a different ballgame right now.

If going by the past, the only difference between the WX 9100 & Vega FE would be the amount of VRAM.
This isn't AMD's first 'prosumer' card, I think the dual Fiji card was their first one, and that one had app certification at launch.

That one had: Dual Fiji XT GPUs, 8GB of total HBM memory, 16 TFLOPS of compute, and was selling for $1499.

Are you saying you don't know how to look for the proper drivers?

AMD.com > support and drivers > Then either use the auto detect feature or you can manually search for your driver. When manually searching you select from the drop downs "Firepro/Radeon Pro/Workstation graphics" > "Radeon Vega series" > "Radeon Vega Frontier" > "Operating System".

They are clearly not standard desktop drivers and are listed with the other "Pro" graphics options. If the original Pro Duo was app certified, it would make sense they will do it for this card too.

It was already stated that WX 9100 is the Vega "Pro" version.

By VideocardZ. So, it's a rumor. And even if there is a WX9100 that is the Firepro version that doesn't mean that the FE isn't a pro card.

Just in case you missed it in my last post "Firepro/Radeon Pro/Workstation graphics" is where the drivers are listed on AMD's website. Someone can take a single sentence from a glossy brochure type marketing page and try and claim that makes Vega a gaming card but we are to overlook and dismiss the fact that FE drivers are on the pro section of AMD's downloads?

Am I to infer that if I do this...
Vega_Desktop.png

Then those are the 'gaming' drivers?
Then if I do...
Vega_Pro.png

Then these are the 'pro' drivers?

So, if you overlook and dismiss the fact they are located in multiple place, blame AMD, not me.

Yes, these are the exact same drivers...go figure. :p
