Radeon VE vs. LE

Except for the Hydra Vision, is there any difference between ATi Radeon VE and LE?
Do the LE-tweaks (Thread 341505)
work with the VE?

Hmmm...you'll have to wait for Taz or oldfart or Lawton to answer this! But I think the VE is actually crippled, not just with the registry, and I think the VE is 64 bit memory bus, not 128.

Hawk is correct. I think a lot of people have been getting the VE and LE confused. With good reason. With the LE so cheap the VE is going to have a tough road unledd DH is needed.

So the LE is exactly the same as Retail 32MB Radeon, except for the lower memory speed and the different registry settings? Or is there still a performance difference between the two even if you even up the memory speed and alter the registry?

From earlier testing ...Test Here 🙂 there seems to be no differences other than clock speed and registry settings (also no fan), but with Powerstrip and registry edits, this seems to be solved. The speed, in tests so far, seems to be on par with the normal Radeon DDR 32 card...

Any way to know if it's an LE? Does it detect as an LE? My friend has one and doesn't know for sure if it's a LE.

The only way I know of is the passive HS and the 148 clock as reported by powerstrip.
