radeon ve dead?

my old ge force 1 stopped working the other day "my monitor went blank" so i decided to buy a new video card. i went out and bought a radeon ve ddr 32mb and tried to install it in win2k, when it restarted it froze up, i then installed winme and tried it it did the same thing, i also went and put it in my dads computer and it did the same thing in win2k, do you think its a bad card or there a fix for this?
 
I think you need to go to Rage3D and read the Radeon install guides and check out the forum before you attempt to reinstall your card.
 
theirs a certain order u need to install the stuff to make the card not screw or freeze.

i use this. it works great:
1) win2k
2) SP1/SP2 update
3) DX8a
4) via drivers (or whatever chipset you have drivers such as amd drivers)
5) radeon drivers
6) all other hardware
