It says about "$138 - $155".

Radeon SDR is better at 32 bit, and 2D quality. Sounds like a nice value/gaming card. :)

I'm quite impressed.
But I can't say I'm terribly surprised...

The Radeon core has 2x3 pipelines/texture units, the GF2MX has only 2x2.
The memory is clocked the same, but the Radeon has it's techniques for lowering Z buffer bandwidth needs, and it has shown itself to be efficient at 32bit before.

The big question to me is price. The Radeon SDR is still a radeon core, and needs a fan (and more power) how will it compare pricewise to the GF2 which is designed to be a low cost (and low power) solution.

Another question did he use the Det3 drivers or not? I assume he did, but he didn't say anywhere, and those make quite a performance difference.

He used an OEM version so I'm assuming the higher clocked retail version would offer even better performance. The price is pretty nice too.

Looking at those benchmarks both cards have their ups and downs. The mx is a bit faster in 16 bit while the radeon is a bit faster in 32bit. Im not even gonna mention the driver issue :)
Anyway if i could buy a radeon for $95 bucks, i probably would.

I think if it's priced under $150 US it will be a nice alternative to g2mx for win98 users on a budget. Its a slightly better card then the MX overall..As far as faster 3d i'm not sure, but i can guarantee that the 2d and 3d will look nicer :)

If it's priced equal to the MX than it looks like it could be good compettion for the MX. Both cards have their advantages and disadvantages.
Radeon has superior image quality, and better 32 bit color, better DVD support, and is better equipped for future games.
On the other hand, the MX has better drivers, better 16bit color, much better support for FSAA, and also has twin view support, and lower power requirements.

It looks like it really comes down to a matter of what features your after, assuming their priced equivalently.

Myself, I still don't see much of a difference with 32bit color, and the better DVD playback isnt very important to me. So I would choose the MX over the Radeon. I also upgrade enought to make the longevity of the Radeon a non factor. I alos like the lower power requirements of the MX.
