There's a BEWILDERING number of models of Radeon and the Manufacturers Product Codes shown on Online Shops do not seem to exactly match up with those on ATIs site.

As well as the usual OEM/Retail choice there's: 166mhz/183mhz

What is the best model to have? is the speed difference above relevant, and are there any other things to look out for?

With radeon prices as they are currently, the bestbuys are the following:

Retail Radeon 64mb VIVO (183/183) - $150
Radeon LE 32mb DDR (143/143, but overclocks like mad) - $80

Where did you find a Radeon 64MB VIVO for $150? Pricewatch has it listed at $176 and it's OEM. The retail version costs a few dollars more.

Buy.com had a DOTD where you could get the 64mb VIVO for around $150 also.. this deal is long gone, but if you keep your eye out similar deals are bound to appear.
