Radeon RX480

Just got one, what are some thoughts and experiences from fellow forum members who happen to have this puppy? I noted BF1 sometimes just goes dark and I have to force re-boot. Yes tried latest drivers and it is not OC.

Thanks for any and all insight

Erik, give us the specifics on your gpu, driver version, cpu, psu, OS etc. That really helps to answer your question.

I recommend checking the PCIe cable from your power supply to make sure it's plugged in correctly. Another thing to do would be to download both Heaven and GPU-Z. Run Heaven in a window and GPU-Z next to it where you can monitor temps, voltages, etc. to see if anything is out of the ordinary.

Also, did your PC run fine before you installed the 480?

If you're using the Gigabyte G1 version its a known issue where it's default fan profile isn't aggressive enough to keep certain PCB components cool. They've released a BIOS update to address the issue and from my experience a higher fan speed was the only thing that I needed to stop crashing. I've also overclocked it above the out-of-box (already factory OCed) by quite a bit with no issues.

For my 24/7 OC I run it at -30mV / +20% power limit / 1304 core / 2000 core. The max stable OC I've attempted is 1350 / 2110 (at +50% power limit and +72mV). I'm sure I could get more out of it but I don't feel comfortable with running the fan faster or dissipating more heat than what it already ready does.
