I definitely understand about moving setups. Reason I went to 290x xf was due to seeing 3x Titan SLI was just not that smooth for whatever reason. Benchmarks for 3x SLI setup were what it should be, but games just seem to have more stutter compared to 2x SLI. Nvidia surround seems to have less problems (especially since each card can get a video connection), but performance was just not there subjectively . I wonder if it's due to SLI connector now becoming a bandwith limitation for Surround High Res framebuffer transfers. Eh, never a perfect world. Anyways, I hope hdmi gets you to 7680x1440.

I would put my bet on DP adapter -> display combo failing to work together. I imagine testing on different displays is impossible unless you work in display shop :p

But how come the same combo worked with Quad Hd 7970 and Tri HD 6970?

Check vids of Quad HD 7970 with the same system, monitors and adapters

I wish I still had those HD 7970

I've been following this thread since the beginning and was really hoping this would be the end of it.
If you do plan on replacing the monitors instead of the cards (easier by far I'm sure), and you were interested in the 3440x1440 monitor, it seems it's an LG and comes in two flavours: 29" and 34" with that resolution. The model is called LG UM95.
But there might be an even nicer option, the LG 31MU95 (got to love those naming conventions... /sarc) which is a true 4K monitor (4094x2160) in 31". You are probably one of 10 people in the world with enough horse power to actually run it (well, you and Baasha, obviously).
They were supposed to come out early March by some of the sources I found online, but that passed.
(And one final link: the press release)

I'm interested in the 34UM95 mostly, its 1500$ compared to the other that is 3,000$.
Also, the 34UM95 (which is the 3440x1440) is suppose to release on April 15th.

I might get the 4K though :awe:

But I just want my setup to work. I might go get a a DP panel just to test and return it.

290X have bios switch ("Uber" and "Quiet"). See if that makes any difference. Doesn't hurt to try.

Have you tried the other GPU bios setting?

Unfortunately I don't have access to the BIOS switch with the EK Terminal in front of the switches but instead I tried to flash to several BIOSes without success.

Keep in Mind that:

-It works fine in Eyefinity on each cards individually
(This proves that each cards are working, each adapters are working, and each monitors are working)

-It works in QuadFire 290x even when OCed up to 1300mhz/1650mhz ... on each DVIs outputs.
(This proves that obviously, each cards work, power supply is sufficient, mobo works)

I will try to make a video today of Eyefinity on a single card and then in the same video you will see me activate a second card via the Rampage IV Extreme PCIe dipswitches as shown below... Then you'll see how it get out of sync immediately. :(

SO it's crossfire/eyefinity/displayport right?

I can try to replicate that. Right now I can try 2 u3011's on dl dvi and a 4k on displayport

No its not eyefinity. Just the monitor plugged via the DP to DVI adapter alone + CrossFire doesn't work.

I tried every adapters on every monitors and everything works fine with a single card.

Ok, I uploaded a Video of 4 tests that I did to illustrate the issue.

First test:
-TriFire (3) 290x with Eyefinity ( cards 1 - 2 - 3 )= Out of Sync

Second test:
-CrossFire (2) 290x with Eyefinity Using cards 1 and 3 = Out of Sync

Third test:
-Single (1) 290x with Eyefinity using card 1 = Runs Pretty Fine

Fourth test:
-CrossFire (2) 290x with Eyefinity using card 1 and 2 = Out of sync

By the way, each tests were done on EACH freakin combinations you can imagine with four (4) cards in QuadFire.

Each cards were tested individually like in the THIRD TEST.

Just out of curiosity, is it more fun to try and overcome these obstacles, or to play on the system?

I dont see if you answered this before, but how are you powering the adapters?

Are you going through the motherboard or external USB adapter?

Tried both already :(

It's fun to troubleshoot but as long as you find the solution. When you turn in circle, it freakin sucks and it gets upsetting.

I would love to play after 4 months of troubleshooting.

When it was working with your 7970's were you on windows 8?

I already tried Windows 7 , Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. And if I remember correctly I tried Windows 8 and 7 with my Quad HD 7970.

This issue made me reformat around 100 times seriously. Maybe more. ^_^
