The beta special purpose 7072's have been serving many people pretty well, although it's always best to experiment with drivers to see which suit your particualr set up best.
A good place to get a list of all the Radeon drivers is
Rage 3D, there's also an excellent forum there with a load of Radeon users always willing to help you out and give feedback.
Also, be sure to check out the
Clean driver installation guide for when you're changing between drivers. It's always best to do these things properly to avoid complecations later down the line. And after a few goes, deleting registry keys and stuff will become second nature.
Good luck getting the best out of the card
