Radeon Problem with Unreal Tournement?

When i play Unreal Tournament on my ATI Radeon 64MB card in Direct3D mode, I have a slight problem. When the loading screen comes up(for all you UT fans, you'll know this) and the screen is blue, it has the UT logo and the word loading. But with me, i get like these black lines that are vertical on the screen. Also, i get these lines during the UT intro and during the game sometimes when i fall from a distance and get hurt. any solutions? I am running it on a Proview EMC 17" monitor, so it isn't the Trinitron prob. thanks guys.

What drivers are you packing? I've played UT with the 3056's, 7041's, and 7068's just to let ya know.

I think I've been through them all. 3056, 3063, 7020, 7041, 7062 and 7068. Never seen the vertical line thing. What is the rest of your system config?

I'm using drivers 3056. My machine config is as follows:

EMC 17" monitor
P3 450
288MB RAM
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR
Yamaha 256 voice sound card w/EAX support

where could those lines be coming from? I wish i knew. I always have stupid problems where stuff i buy never runs right. Always happens to me. If i run in OpenGL mode, i don't get the lines, fortunately. Unfortunately, i get lower frames rates(15-20) and jaggy textures and stuff. Anyone know?

Also, where can i get the 7068 drivers? think they will solve my prob? Also, in Direct3D mode, i only get about 45fps average. should it be more? Ahhhhh!

The 7068's could be gotten from Rage3d.com but that site is down for a bit while they move to a new server.

Rest of system config? You mean the hardware? Check my sig. Software? Erm I'll get back to you on that if that's what you need to know I don't have a lot of time right now.

http://www.rageunderground.com Is up and running. You say 45fps? What setting are you running? I have an old ATI Expert 128 card. Ay 800x600x16 with med setting I get an average of 55 fps in peak with 8 bots running around. I would imagine yours should be the same with higher resolution and settingts to high. Depends on the rest of your system though.

Well, I'm running the game at 1024x768x16. should i be getting better fps higher than 45 on a P3 450(not oc'd)? I mean i would think so. wouldn't you?

I know this sounds wierd, but I saw this on a thread on the Rage3D forum.

This guy claimed that UT was running slowly at 1024 but running much faster at 1270x1024. I bumped it up to 1270 and it was MUCH FASTER. I didn't record the framerate counts, but the game was obviously smoother and faster. Go figure!

I'm running the 7068's with the latest UT drivers (436).

I FIXED IT! The problem was i ws running at 1024x768x16 but hwen i changed to 32bit color, voila! no more lines. I still get little lines during the opeening demo but who gives.

Ah yes, ATi's infamous 16 bit colour problem. You should run all of your games in 32 bit colour if you can.

Ati's 16bit really looks horrible, especially with the latest line of Beta drivers. I hope they fix that...

16 bit?? I never run it. 1st thing I do on any game is go right for 1024 x 768 x 32, crank ull details to max. Your UnrealTournament.ini file should look something like this:
