Does anyone know how to "enable" the hardware acceleration feature on PowerDVD?

In the information part it only states.

IA MMX Technology : In Use
IA Streaming SIMD Extensions : In Use
Video Accelerator : Not Detected

And I can't use the ATI DVD player becasue I can't get the DTS digital out singal to come through, only the PCM Digital.

Doesn't the digital audio stream come out of your sound card? I would suspect the DTS problem is with the sound card, not the DVD player software. I'm assuming you have an external DTS decoder, maybe in a receiver or something?

I could be wrong. But I don't think so. ;)

Yes I have an external receiver...the stream is only detected when using PowerDVD (It has settings where you can specify SPDIF out). If I use any other player that does not support the SPDIF out feature, my receiver only stated "PCM Digital" and does not change to "Dolby Digital or DTS" when a DVD starts playing.

What version of PowerDVD do you have? The newest is *supposed* to support ATI's DVD features, though I tried it and it didn't work...But I heard WinDVD works?

OK, I see....

WinDVD is a commercial DVD player software. Don't know a link, but it should show up in a Google search.

Surf on over to Rage Underground and download their "Tweaker" program. I think it has a way to enable SPDIF with the ATi player. Or try DVD Genie, sorry, you'll have to hit Google for that, too.

Good luck!

Win DVD 2.3M(multichannel) does upport Radeon's hardware dvd assists. I used to think Cinemaster 2000 did, but apparently it doesnt-you have to edit some reg. files 1st

PowerDVD does not support the Radeon's iDCT hardware acceleration, however, the latest version of WinDVD does. And in case your interested the ATI DVD player can be used to send a Dobly Digital signal through your souncards SPDIF (but sadly not DTS) if you enable the SPDIF option using a program called DVD Genie which you can download from here.
