Hey guys

When I OC my radeon 9800pro, the max I get on my core right before I get artifacts is 415. The max i get on the RAM is 380 before I get artifacts. What numbers should i keep it at to keep my system stable?? Should it be like 10 below the max?? So 405/370?

Thanks for the help

You'll just have to play with the numbers to see the max core and memory values you can get without any artifacts.

The default values for the 9800XT are 400 core and 730 memory (365x2). Overclocking your 9800P to 405 core and 370 memory puts you right at these values, so I'd probably just leave them there.

ATITool tells me that my Sapphire 9800 Pro 128 has a max OC around 416/365. 400ish/360ish is probably quite safe and will give you that extra 5-10% increase in framerate.

Personally I have been gaming with it at 420/365 without any problems (I never see any artifacting, although it probably is according to ATITool).

This is with stock hsf and no ram-sinks. My case has good airflow with a side case fan blowing basically on the card at around 1200 RPM.

bacon333,

I personally use Radlinker (comes with the Omega drivers and works even if you replace the omega drivers with stock ATI afterwards). ATiTool is a good tool for determining what your card is capable of, but I didn't like using it to actually OC.

Anyway, I would suggest playing with and whatever settings give you artifacts take it down 5MHz for each setting...for example, I get start to get artifacts/snow with my 9800 Pro @ 450/800 so I bumped it down to 445/790 and it's cool...

My Sapphire 9800 pro 128 meg with VGA silencer for now runs at 420/370 no artifacts. Once the AS5 settles I my see if I can squeeze anymore out of it. With stock cooling 398/351. I used ATITool to determine the approximate max core and memory and I use RadClocker to set the speeds.
