What's you budget, if you don't have one get a GTS 64mb, or an Ultra, not sure if it's worth the extra $$$ though.(more like $$$$)

A Radeon would by far be the best choice for your needs. First of all the Radeon is the best card out for DVD playback. Secondly, the 2D quality of the Radeon is superior to the Geforce which is nice when having to look at text all night while doing homework. And finaly, the Radeons 3D speed is up there close with the Geforce 2's, and the Radeon will also be better able to take advantage DirectX 8.0 which keeps it a little more future proof than the Geforce cards.

I have the ATI AIW Radeon and the beta DX8 drivers are causing problems with a DX8 game so saying the ATI Radeon is more future proof than the Geforce is just speculation. However, the DX8 drivers are beta as I stated so with the final release, it should be better I hope.

Um, if you want to display your TV on your monitor then the Radeon 64 MB or AIW Radeon would be good, and also the DVD is better too. Unless you get that Asus Geforce 2, though its features aren't as good as the Radeon's (VIVO stuff).
