Radeon new WHQL 6014 drivers!

These are for the 8500 only.

Update: Hey you're right, I had to add the windows update catalog to the bottom for them to show up, but I notice they have 6015 listed now as well as numerous other ATI drivers, all posted yesterday .hmmm

ok. im using them now but have seen some small graphical glitches. for instance,

-when i surf the web, some texts get "blocked" out. you just cant read em. to solve this dilemma, you minimize the window or drag it off the screen and it will recover to normal.

-leave your mouse over a desktop icon and there is no shadow under the text box.

these are the only two minors quirks ive noticed.

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ oced to 1900+
MSI K7T266 Pro
512 Crucial
Radeon 8500 retail

that should be all the specs you need to know...tell me if you need more. i doubt it😉

These drivers break Video In on the Radeon 64 VIVO but everything else is lovely. 3DMark2001, UT, and Serious Sam all saw a major speed increase.

I went to the Microsoft update webpage but the list of updates it created doesn't include the Radeon 8500. Is there something I should be doing first?
thanks.

You can download these drivers in cab file format at ftp://162.84.138.136/, read the README to find out which file to download. You'll need to extract them, then manually update the drivers by pointing the add hardware wizard to the directory where the cab file was decompressed.

Yup, they broke video-in on my VIVO as well, WHQL? I went back to the 6018 betas which work very nice for me.

I've been using the 3286 drivers and decided to give the WinUpdate 6014 version a shot after hearing plenty o' good things on rage3d.com.

My 3DMark2001 score went down from 7931 to 7753! Yikes! :Q System restore here I come. Not only did these lower my score they also made RTCW waaaaay choppy and they f**ked up the video-in on my TV Wonder.

I guess that's why they always say if you're not having any problems don't bother updating the drivers 😉

Back to the 3286's for me . . .
