Radeon LE hack?

Came across a Radeon LE basically for free. It has been more than a year since I had one, as I recall there was a registry hack to enable Hyper Z? Or can you just use a tweaker that has a setting to turn it on? If so, could someone post a link to get either or both or just tell me what the name of the program is and I can use Google to track it down.

Thanks alot! I decided the easiest way was just fo flash the LE to a 32MB DDR. I searched on Google for about 45min and was about to give up. Thanks for the link, it had everything I needed.

you will have to check your registry to see if the flash enabled Hyper-Z
there should be a string in the atidxhal that says disablehyperz=0

there are 2 other lines that need to be added too. look for the radeon LE registry hack or I can email it to you....lmk

Thanks Gotey. I found the Radeon LE registry hack and will compare and see what I got. I read that the stuff only gets disabled when the card is identified as an LE, so with the bios update to a true 32MB DDR this shouldn't happen, but if it does I am ready.

For those just wanting the hack without having to flash your bios (which I've heard varied reports as to whether flashing will or will not enable hyperZ), here is the HyperZ registry hack for Win98.

Essentially, you just have to open MS Notepad and save the italiced entry below as a reg file (ie. "HyperZHack.reg" or "RadeonHack.reg") somplace that's easy to remember (My Documents or to the Desktop):

"DisableHierarchicalZ"="0"
"DisableHyperZ"="0"
"FastZClearEnabled"="1"


When you click on the file, it'll prompt you that it's adding the entries to the registry. You only have to add them each time you re-install new drivers; you don't need to install it every boot up.
