Hello friends,
I've got a somewhat difficult problem here. I'm trying to install a dual monitor Radeon LE card on a WinXP system running off a Gigabyte KT133 mobo. The system will boot into safe mode. But if you try to boot normally, you get past the windows loading splash screen, then the blue of the desktop shows up and the system hangs for about 30 seconds. After that, you get an error screen that says a file named ati2dvag was causing the device to go into an infinite loop, and that windows needed to shut the system down to prevent any damage to the system. Then it proceeds to dump physical memory and reboot.
Also listed on the error screen is the following technical information:
0x000000EA 0x82D8B020, 0x82F33ED0, 0xF8A6DCB4, 0x00000001
I've tried many things to fix the problem, including:
1) Boot into safe mode, uninstall device completely, manually install device and built-in XP driver
2) Boot into safe mode, uninstall device completely, boot to normal mode and allow it to automatically install
3) Try to install Catalyst drivers. The drivers won't even run -- it tells us that it can't find any hardware which is appropriate for the drivers!
4) Try to install older Catalyst drivers. Same problem.
5) Install Omega drivers for Radeon. No change in system performance.
6) Drop down AGP slot to 2x and play with aperature size settings in BIOS.
And probably a couple of other things I'm neglecting to mention.
We could use some help here... really not sure what the problem is. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I won't be able to get back to the PC until Monday.
Thanks a million,
GS
