They are two different kind of LE, you cannot compare them directly.

The original Radeon and Radeon LE have a special relationship - LE for lower speed and hyper-z disabled in directx by default.

Radeon 7500/8500 and 7500LE/8500LE have a simple industry standard "Lite Edition" relationship - LE for lower clock speed and less something (for example, original 8500LE has no DVI).

Radeon VE (aka 7000) is a different chip than Radeon - the former has twin output pipelines for dual head support, but only one rendering pipeline which is full featured, although earlier drivers crippled it even more. This is history - the latest drivers use all the 7000 has.

On the 7500 line, the LE is the same chip as the non-LE - slightly clocked down usually, and often paired with a lower performing RAM array. There are cards with 128-bit-wide SDRAM as well as cards with 64-bit-wide DDR. Non-LE 7500 are 128-bit DDR.

You'll find all kinds of cards from ATi and their chip customers - with all variations of clock speeds, RAM arrays, CRT/DVI/TV outputs, with fan or fanless, standard and low profile. You choose.
