Hmmm. I sure am waiting for Anand's missing article that is supposed to be posted this week. Maybe this will shed some light on the Radeon SE/II questions.

Things should get interesting.

and there still another 7/8 months to wait until it comes out.
and for that time, there should be a another super speedy gf3 pro/ultra card from nvidia.

too bad, ati can never ahead from nvidia.

hints# even the radeon2 comes out, it still needs another 2 to 3 months for a mature good performance driver to come out.

"ATI has very positive thinking about tile-based rendering as well and its way of thinking here is similar - that is to improve performance radically."
one of the most pointless nonsense sentences of all time. every manufacturer wants to improve performance but hyperZ and tile based rendering come from opposite corners of rendering folks :D

"The Radeon 2 is almost finished and the drivers are 99 per cent ready to drive"
sounds like an ATi product not even released has drivers waaaay ahead of any that have yet been released for any of their previous products. that makes perfect sense...

"The other thing we will see on these cards is improved HyperZ technology"
what, you mean being improved from a heap of bullsh!t, the touted feature that never worked right and was disabled by default in drivers? *cough*

"At this point it is very hard to talk about detailed specifications, especially about clock and memory speeds"
this card can not be very close to release, because before every release ATi has always stated specifications, and significantly greater than those of the released product...

Gee, what a surprise to see Travis spouting anti-ATI rhetoric

ATI has very positive thinking about tile-based rendering as well and its way of thinking here is similar -that is to improve performance radically.
This is some quote from some rag of a website. You know for sure exactly what the RadII's technology is from this?

What is it you mean by this? Again, you are an expert on their current products/drivers, and have done testing on the RadII yourself?

"The other thing we will see on these cards is improved HyperZ technology"
what, you mean being improved from a heap of bullsh!t, the touted feature that never worked right and was disabled by default in drivers? *cough*

Huh? What are you smokin? HyperZ is enabled by default on Radeon cards (except D3D on LE cards) and gives a 20% increase in performance. Its obvious you don't know your facts.

"At this point it is very hard to talk about detailed specifications, especially about clock and memory speeds"
this card can not be very close to release, because before every release ATi has always stated specifications, and significantly greater than those of the released product

Gee, and no other company has been guilty of this? Since you know so much about the new product, why don't you spill the beans and tells us what the specs are?

Why not wait for actual product specs and P/reviews before making your totally uninformed opions?

hmm.. in the current driver it seems enabled but I was told in the past it wasn't by default. in the radeon tweaker it says hyper z causes artefacts and is disabled, no? what was is disabled then if not hyper Z?

I don't know. The Inquirer is not a website that I would consider a professional source for news. Also, ATI has been known to inflate their products specs and potential and always releases a product that is less than they claimed it would be.

"The Radeon 2 is almost finished and the drivers are 99 per cent ready to drive."

Typical of ATI. Saying they are almost ready to keep others from buying and then take a while to actually release a product. Reminds me of their Radeon mobile chip. They said it was completed and would be released around the same time as the Geforce 2 GO mobile chip. Its been two months since the the Geforce 2 GO appeared in retail store and I still don't see any ATI Rage mobility based notebooks announced. They even stated how they were different from NVIDIA with product announcements. They stated the reason they semed like they were generally behind was because they liked making press releases when a product was within a month of appearing in retail stores, unlike NVIDIA which they said could take 2-3 months. Well, its been two months since the Rage mobility was announced and I still don't see any notebooks announced that will use the Rage mobility. Typical ATI. Sorry but I just hate ATI's PR department. ATI's hardware department is excellent but I hate how their PR department and driver department ruin them.

HyperZ consists of many components. There is one called HierarchicalZ. This one is disabled by default. The only game I have seen it cause artifacts in is NOLF, and that is only in the cut scenes. Enabling HierarchicalZ is good for maybe a 1-2% increase in fps. FastZclear is what really makes the difference.

All I'm saying is why not wait for some real facts before the latest round of anti ATI nonsense? I'm not saying the RadII is going to be the sh!t or anything. I don't know. Neither do you.

<too bad, ati can never ahead from nvidia> I remember looking for a video card with the features of the AIW Radeon for my home entertainment PC months ago, If I had waited for a nVidia card....I'd still be waiting:) My AIW is a great card and the next gen is sure to be a winner.
