Radeon Help Needed

Hi there. Well, I tried to update the drivers for my Radeon 9600 Pro card with the latest ATI release. I just double clicked on the pack and tried to install it as usual. However, while installing the drivers, I got the error below:

'Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adaptor with a standard VGA driver before running setup.'

Ok,so I thought that I'd just try reinstalling the ones that were working, and I get the same error. Whenever I try to install drivers manually the computer starts to install them but then says that there was an error while installing. I cannot locate the VGA ones either.

Any help? This is driving me nuts....

Thanks for any help

Did you even UNINSTALL the ATI drivers BEFORE installing the new drivers??? If not..I suggest going into the ATI folder...wherever you installed it first (way back when you installed the very first drivers). And go into the Uninstall folder. There should be only one file (I don't know what it's called and I can't check because I'm at work) but if you run that file...it will install ALL ATI drivers anywhere on the computer and THEN you can install your new drivers.

go to add/remove programs in control panel and select 'ATI software uninstall utility'.
it will take all ati software including drivers off. reboot and don't let windows install a driver.
install new drivers, daoc, dvd decoder, mmc 9.0 in that order.
