Is it true that the new AMD Radeon line is coming up in Q3 of 2011? Because I just bought a 6950 2 weeks ago and now I feel disappointed. And if this is true, what should I do with my 6950? I can sell it and use my old 4870 until the new 28nm cards come out. Or I can use my 6950 until the 7XXX series comes out and try to sell my 6950 after the new cards come out. Which one is the better option?

I play battlefield bad company 2 at 1920x1200 highest settings and planning to get battlefield 3 when it comes out, if that matters at all.

It would be nice if it were true . If it were true a expect 2 things.

1) It will not be highend

2) If the rumor is true we should here shortly from NV saying ME to.

There is always something new just ahead, buy what you need when you need it and upgrade when you feel the urge, have the cash or *gasp* actually need more go juice.

Usually AMD does not leak this information, I can't see it help sales of their existing 6 series.
Even though I don't think its true.
And I don't think high end 28nm will be here before December.
There is another 7 series speculation thread.

I think if 28nm were right around the corner amd would not have released the 6990.The 6990 was obviously not meant for 40nm and should tell you that 28nm is going to be a ways off.

Keep it, if AMD does release a 28nm card in a few months it will not be faster than your 6950, it will be mid range at best. I would estimate something in the 6850 performance range.

Q3 2011 for 7xxx is pretty optimistic, especially since yields on 28nm probably won't be so hot early on.

You've got the 6950 now so why not enjoy it? I get caught in this upgrade trap myself and it's really not worth it to worry about not having the latest and greatest.
------

If you've still got your 4870 lying around, then a better idea is to sell it now ($60-90 in your pocket), and when 7xxx does come out, sell your 6950 for $150-$200. Then you get to use a fast card now and later, at pretty equal money to dumping your 6950 now and using the older 4870, which is just lying around by your own admission.

I am thinking a the very earliest we will get the HD 7000 series by the end of the year/beginning of next year. We may get some sort got 28 nm test GPU like the HD 4770 was.
