Hey guys, hey!

Long time no see. Having some odd idle clock issues which just started with Beta 13.6 (I just installed them today.)

Was curious if this is a known issue?
Idle clocks are 300/710, I'm pretty sure before they always idled at 150/300.

Eitherway, my card is now 40C idle which I don't appreciate.

Watching Afterburner, I see bumps for the core to jump to 501Mhz, oh and just now to full clocks ie 1100mhz.

Something is up. I'm pretty sure my system is idle (ie normal as usual.)

Wondering now if it's a known beta 13.6 bug?

System in sig, one monitor setup.

Do you have more than one monitor hooked up?

No, why I said in my post - one monitor setup. I knew there was issues before with multi-monitor users.

GPU usage is "zero" but clocks are still 300/710.

Also noticed on the CCC-Overdrive screen, those are actually the lowest clocks on the slider. I wonder if AMD changed something internally.

I also keep noticing blips of usage reported by MSI AB. It ranges from 5% to as high as 20%.

And with each blip CPU clock go either to 501 or full load 1100. Memory stays at 710 with the 501 core blip but goes to 1500mhz with the 1100 core blip.

So it looks like this:
"Idle - 0%" == 300/710
5-10% Blip == 501/710
>10% Blip == 1100/1550

Was starting to think my system got compromised with that java Bitminer thing, but I don't see anything out of the norm.

Really baffled, might try using the WHQL drivers. Next step format.

EDIT: Oh, not sure if this matters but the way I have my RIG setup because of space/coolers is:
PCIE Slot one (closest to CPU) == Sapphire Dual X 7970
PCIE Slot three (closest to PSU) == Sapphire Ref 7970 <- monitor is hooked up to this one since it has better idle temps/acoustics

Never had an issue before with this setup, so really starting to think it's beta 13.6 related.

Volts are jumping from 0.095v to 1.175v.

Sigh...screw trying to figure it out for now, just going to install 13.4 and see what happens.

Installed Cata 13.4 WHQL, still had the same issue with 300/710 idle clocks fluctuating to 501/710 and full clocks 1100/1500.

Couldn't figure it out, started to think it was a possible DMG CPU I got from someone, reverted everything to stock, still no go.

Not sure what made me decide to uncheck the Overdrive box (yes, I know "only a newb uses CCC to OC) and magical stock clocks 300/150.

I watched my temps climb down to a more comfortable 28C.

Not sure WTF was the issue or cause, but guess I'll just switch back to using MSI AB for my OCing needs. Also not sure if Volts are locked out in 13.6 Beta, but I can now adjust volts with MSI AB again on 13.4 WHQL.

It sounds like a software catalyst error. if you have multiple monitor set up or OCed your gpu, it can potentially cause an idle clock error. Or just try installing an older driver
