I'm thinking of getting the Radeon HD 5970, but i only have 550watt atm, specs say it needs min 650watt ps. This one from AMD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814105001

Right now i run Core 2 quad , but plan on upgrading to sandybridge-E when it comes out.

Do you think 850watt one would be ok? How about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._TS_-_-1_32___

Anything I should be aware of, like new card coming out that is better within the month? Or issues with this card? This is the fastest ATI card besides CF right (naming of cards is so confusing)?

850w would be fine, but you linked to a Corsair 750w.

Actually, 750w would be fine too, but you should buy this Seasonic x750:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151087

Current $30 off code: EMCKAGK39, makes it $130 shipped.

The 5970 is AMD's older dual-GPU card, so it is crossfire on a card. Very fast - about equivalent to a GTX580, but could be memory-limited down the line. At $400 with code, however, it's quite a deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814105001

If you're serious about spending that much money, you should consider the GTX580 for $420AR/FS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500184

Here's a benchmark comparing the two cards: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/297?vs=305

Ah yah wrong link my bad. I did not realize it was two GPU on card. I was just looking at benchmarks. lol

I will be overlocking the sandybridge-E when it comes out fyi, so that is why i was concerned with PS.

I'm upgrading from a gtx 460, so its that "once every 3-4 year upgrade" i'm doing. Lots of good games come out in next couple months so want to be ready :D

That GPU can be had from these guys http://www.sabrepc.com/t-prm09ZoGTX580.aspx for $399 free shipping. Does not include game though. Never used/heard them before though..? That deal ends at 6PM PDT tonight though..mmm should i go for that or the 5970 for same price?

Get the gtx580 - you don't want to have to deal with crossfire/SLI if you can do the same in a single card solution.

Ok i'm sold on the GTX580. Rebate ends today so that is good you recommended that :D

Now for sure the 750watt PS would be fine for this card + SB-E overlocked?
