The instructions for this video card are horrible! I couldn't find them online and they aren't on the dvd that came with it.

Anyway, this humongous video card uses three power connectors. I only have one of these cards running, no quad, 🙂 so do I still need all three power rails? My power supply probably can't handle this thing. 600 watts. 🙁

This is more of a PSU-related question, so I'm pushing this over to "Power Supplies"

I thought that the 4870x2 only had a 6 pin and an 8 pin PCIE power connector? At least the pics on newegg only show that it has those two...

But yes, you will want both connectors plugged in or the machine probably is just going to show you a blank screen. It did the same thing with my 9800GX2 - if one plug was not plugged in you got nowhere.

Adair:

It actually has a 6 pin connector and an 8 pin connector, but the card comes with a cable that has 8 pins on one end and two four pin (3 activated) Molex connectors on the other end. I just tried connecting video with only one of the four pin Molex connectors connected and it didn't work. It' obviously needs all three connectors.
