Right now I?m looking at the Radeon 64meg. With the Radeon, what really is the difference (aside from packaging) between the retail and OEM, and is it worth going for the retail? I?m running windows ME and I don?t plan on moving to win2k anytime soon so don?t have to worry about those issues, but are there any other things I should be aware of, perhaps with VIA chipset? Any info would be helpful.

Thanx

I've had Radeon 32DDR retail on BX, KT133 and Apollo Pro chipsets. I had no issues. I upgraded from V3 as well and was very pleased ... except with Unreal Tournament performance, but that is probably a configuration issue on my part.

Yes, a 64mb DDR Radeon would be a little bit over kill for a P3 450 (I should know, I have a p3 450 with a 64mb DDR Radeon 😉). Thats not to say you won't see a huge performance increase because you will, but unless you plan on upgrading your processor soon you would probably be better off going for one of the cheaper Radeons unless you need the VIVO.

Big update from the Fury and I recommend buying the maximum that you can afford. You'll be CPU limited for now but you won't have the 450 forever.

I think i'll pop for one (64 mb radeon) because of the trade-up program and upgrade my cpu and mobo this summer when palomino comes out since it should drive the t-birds price down.

However, the xbox is making me think twice about this because the video-card is for gaming, so i'm thinking maybe i should wait till fall and get a whole new system with the Xbox.
