Radeon DDR VIVO: TV in/out troubleshooting

My Radeon VIVO came with the Multimedia Center 7.1. I tried TV-out and it worked fine. Haven't tried S-video out yet though. But when I tried to connect my sony digital video camera into tv-in, it wouldn't display. I noticed that DVD playback is AWEFUL when I use the ATI DVD player, Windvd/Power DVD work fine. Are there any othe programs that I can use for TV-in/Video capture?
