Is there a $50 rebate on this card too? I saw in sharky's value card roundup that there was supposed to be a $50 rebate for the ddr version. I looked around a little last night and didn't find it. Can anyone supply a link if there is one. Thanks

No links and you won't get anything from ATI either.
The only rebates that I've come across are Best Buy and compuplus (one other but I forget who) but they are proprietary (must be bought at those retailers). Best Buy is currently spitting out double rebates(only one is valid)
I'm sure there are other retailers but they will also only be honored from receipts at those stores.

At the end of the aforementioned Sharky's review the caveat was mentioned that this rebate does NOT appear to be an online promo., but rather he advised readers to buy from CompUSA or Fry's (ugh). Must be an in box or store rebate, B&M only? I don't know, but read Sharky for first hand wording.

The rebate only applies to certian stores (None of which are online)

There's a better deal, which I just got. Use the BestBuy 20% off coupon, which brings it down to $110 tax and rebates (plus tax).

Couldn't you go to a local Best Buy or Comp USA and buy the Radeon. Get the rebate form and make a copy of the receipt, then return it. Cut the UPC from the Radeon you bought online, send in the copy of the Best Buy receipt and send in the rebate form.

It may be more work, but for 50 bucks.

Any problems with my idea?

that is a damn good deal, I just got this card from there and with the 30 off coupon mine came to 151 shipped, had I have known it was going to drop even further in price I would have waited, but it is a sweet card and that is less than you can get some gf2 mx's for

Checkout the ATI web site. Only the 64MB DDR Radeon (and Radeon All-In-Wonder) comes with Video IN/OUT. They (local B&M BestBuy) wanted $399 for it! :(

Agnivarsh, a scan converter is a device that ususally takes a VGA-input (from your video card), and converts the signal to an S-Video/RCA output for your TV; in other words, it allows any video card's display to be shown on a TV screen. If you know what a JAM! board is, this does the exact opposite! ;)

By the way, most scan converters are mediocre compared to good TV-out cards (the quality of the conversion is on-par with a TV-out display from a diamond V550 or V330), but some more expensive ones work really great; plus you get a lot more features than a simple video card with TV-out, such as simultaneous display on both monitors and TV (with any video card), manual zoom of one part of the display onto the TV screen, readjustment of the refresh rate for sharper/smoother picture on the TV, etc... They work with games or any programs, but their original purpose was for allowing people to present their powerpoint slides onto a big screen TV (just because projectors are so damn expensive).
