Radeon/D3D and Diablo 2 frame rates *Update*

I posted a message while back saying how my Radeon got killed by Diablo 2 in direct 3d but my old banshee did awesome.

Well I just got tired of choppy video and decided to try out a voodoo 3 3000. And Lo and Behold, my frame rates went from 25-50 to 100+ fps *95%* of the time. Using glide of course. (1.2 ghz, 256MB, tested on multiplayer b.net,using a cable connection.

so for those of you getting diablo 2 video problems, dump that xpen$ive Radeon and get yourself a nice sugary voodoo 3 or banshee for cheap 🙂

i just read your post. no need to 'dump' anything, you could either get a cheap v3 and keep the radeon at the same time, or simply run it in directdraw. i dont belive you when you say you get only slightly better fps in 2d mode, mine never dips under 60 unless someone purposefully bonewall spams. and this is only on classic athlon950, go figure. it does look much ugglier however, the game runs in 8bit instead of 16bit (high color)
