Radeon back in da house!

After the tragic early death of my AIW Radeon last week after 7 months of putting it through the paces<sniff> My new Radeon 64DDR SE VIVO<---woohoo just arrived from Newegg (3days!) just arrived, and now in the box!........... Life is good.😀

Not sure, I was playing Quake3A (in linux) and my screen froze, fried the bios in my MSI pro2a? and my AIW has artifacts when booting up. New mobo and Vid card, and all is well. I picked up a boxed duron900 with the mobo at fry's just in case. Turned out my cpu was fine, so when I get my board and AIW RMA'd, looks like the kids get a new box, so all is working out great, and they are stoked.

<< Ahhh, Linux. Didn't Microsoft say it was evil? >>

LOL, I know I was saying it was evil for a bit there, but here I am using Mozilla in linux with my new card, guess I don't learn.😉

Wow, never heard of that happening before, sounds scary! =) Hope that doesn't happen to mine. Did your AIW have any capacitators fall off when you bought it? But it's probably just cause your motherboard that your video card fried...?

Nope, flawless operation for 7+ months and I used my AIW for everything, gaming, video capture output to the TV. However, I was having real trouble setting my video modes in linux(xfree86 4.1) no matter how I setup my config, I would only get 1280x1024 @60hz, just horrible refresh rates. I was able to setup DRI though, and installed Q3A to test performance. As horrible as the 2D was, it was running nicely in 3D. I played for quite awhile and was thinking about installing UT, and poof..frozen display...won't POST. When I tried it in my new mobo, I had artifacts during the POST, so I'm assuming somethings not right.
