I'v recently had to buy a new video card since my old one burned out.. I got the ATI x850xt and it runs great, for about 5 min then my computer locks up I'm workin on a complete fresh install bios is up to date and I'v tried multiple different drivers. I can't seem to figure out why I keep locking up.. it doesn't happen unless I start playing any of my games like everquest 2 or battlefield 2.. I'd hate to get a new one cause like I said it runs great.. till I lock up hehe so if anyone out there has any solutions I can try please could definetly use it.. its not overheating either nothing seems to be wrong at all.. but anyway any info I can get on it would be most appreciative

specs of your computer plz.

Could it be your power supply not providing the voltage?
Download ati tray tools, get to overclocking settings, fan mode, and put auto fill (detect, w/e), save and make a profile. Should help. Cause cards tend to overheat AFAIK

my powersupply is 450 .. as for brand I not sure off hand can't really tell I have 2gig ddr400 I THINK..
intel p4 3k.. if I missed anything let me know I'll fill in what I can hehe 🙂

We need to know what kind of power supply it is, so we can tell if it is good enough. Sorry, but unless you know off hand, you're going to have to take off the side pannel and look at the sticker on the power supply.

Sounds like it's overheating to me. You might want to download "ATI Tray Tools" and see what your temps are doing.

I'll just type it out like its listed on the sticker not sure what I"m lookin for

3.3v - 5v - 12v - -5v - -12v - +5sb
26.0a 32.0a 13.0a .5a .8a 2.0a

if I'm reading it right the only temp that comes close to the max is the enviroment temp but I haven't had it go over its max

WOW! Only 13 amps on the 12v rail! That is way too low of a number for that X850XT, you should look into buying a new power supply before it blows up and takes your whole system with it.
