Radeon and Monitor??

HI Well I have a new Radeon AIW DDR and I am trying to take adtvantage of its features but I think I have a Video card thats way better than my monitor. I tried 1280/1024 res on my monitor but it only does 60 HZs Refresh rate is max and I can see it. I am thinking that I need to get a better monitor to take full advantage of my Radeon??

I dont even know what kind it is. I bought it at frys Electronics 2 years ago for $200 I think. its a 17 inch.
