Hi all,

After going through PriceWatch I discovered that these 2 cards are approximately the same in price, ~$300. So my question is this--how much of a performance hit in comaprison w/ the DDR will I see if I pick up the AIW? I want the AIW badly, but I'm also an avid gamer. If the difference between these 2 versions is night and day in terms of graphics, I may be forced to stick with the 64/DDR version. If you were in my shoes, which card would you buy? Any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

Personally I'm holding out for the 32MB AIW. At first I was reluctant to take the performance hit. But if you check out some reviews there isn't THAT much difference between the 2. Especially if you can get any sort of overclocking out of your 32MB. The number of added features on the AIW just makes it too sweet to pass up for just a few more FPS.

I've seen lots of reviews that compare the 64MB vs. 32MB. It seems the clock speeds on the board play more of an impact than the memory difference (depending on the game of course). I just read one today where they clocked a 32MB up to 190/190 and it beat out a 64MB at the default 183 in quake3. Can't remember where I saw it though...

Yeah, I think I'll do the same. There's just too many features I want on the AIW. I haven't seen any reviews of it (or the 32MB version) yet, but I'm sure you're on the money. If it's anything like the GF2 GTS/MX comparison, it'll definitely be worth it to sacrifice some power for all around performance and versatility. Thanks for the reply!

also do you have amd or intel cpu? if you have an amd cpu the ati aiw wont support mpeg1 or mpeg2 capturing, amd only supports vcr1 and vcr2, which is avi. only intel supports mpeg1 or mpeg2 on the ati.

I would only get the AIW if you plan on using the TV-Tuner, otherwise you would be much better off getting the 64mb DDR.

Hey motoslave,
This was a crucial question that I pondered myself actually. I choose to wait out for the Radeon All in Wonder for the simple fact that it has killer features!.. I mean, sure the 64 is hella faster, but I will actually want to do stuff with my video card besides playing games (which i don't do often). I just think that the idea of watching TV, recording TV shows, editing Home Videos, and all that just outweights the extra 5 frames you will get with the 64MB (okay, I know it must be more, please don't pull benchmarks on me).

So that is why I ordered the All In Wonder from Onvia for $261 - $25 (new user coupon-- go to the hot deals forum for more info) to have my All in Wonder ship when they get it stock begining of Oct.

Im not sure about the AIW but i just traded a 32meg GeForce 2 for a 32 meg Radeon, and its a much better card.(pic Quility wise) and it over clocks easy to 185, and ive never had a card that
has such a leep in porformance by overclocking it, its faster than the GF2 was, i ran unreal last night with the new D3D code installed and i averaged anywere from 62 to 90 FPS,ive never seen Unreal run that fast, even the V3-3500 i had didnt come close to that in glide.Im no card expert but ive had them all and this is by far the best card ive ever seen.

WHAT? You mean one cannot do MPEG2 capture with an AMD CPU? That seems rediculous?!? I was planning to buy a cheap duron600/kt7 combo and overclock it to 900+ and buy a Radeon AIW with the intent to archive tv shows to MPEG 2, then compress them to Mpeg4 and burn them to CDs.

Can anyone else confirm this issue? I didn't see anything else about it on ATI's website.

"archive tv shows to MPEG 2, then compress them to Mpeg4 and burn them to CDs."
Damn man, you read my mind... it would be kick ass to record the Simpsons and Family Guy, I just hope that the AIW comes with easy software to cut out the commercials and such. DivX rules!!
