Radeon AIW vs GF2 32+tv card?

Hi all,

Just like some views about whether the AIW is worth the extra dollars since the gforce is a lot cheaper and offers (arguably, hehe)much better 3D performance, I could add a tv card with the money saved.

I'd like to know if I go with the GF and separate tv card, apart from getting a remote, would I have the TIVO features of the AIW?

How about the editing features of these 2 solutions, I might consider basic mpeg 1 or 4 editing, like for putting a tv series onto cdr, but nothing specialist as I'm a beginner-I read some of the thread about the AIW below, but it was too confusing for my peanut-sized brain. I'm not too fussy about the difference in 2D clarity as I'm half blind already.

Thanks in advance.

If you put a TV card with the GF2, you would be very lucky to get it cheaper. But since your half blind anyway, you can play all your games in 16bit, so yea 3d performance would probably be better too.:)

If watching DVD's and Divx files, or playing games on your TV, you may want to go for the AIW however;)

Thanks Rbv5, but could you tell me whether it's possible to record tv onto HD with the GF2+tuner or is it limited to AIW?

If you get the Hauppauge WinTv or similar PCI addon board, yes, you can watch/record TV to your hardrive and you could also get like an Asus AGP-V7700 Deluxe TV, it comes with a tuner like the AIW for about $60 more than the AIW if your stuck on getting a nVidia board.

Another consideration would be to hook a VCR up to the Radeon 64mb DDR vivo, probably your best bet value and performance wise.
