I was wondering when the PCI version of the ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder would be out (if at all). They said that it would be shipping in North America in september but as of yet I haven't noticed it (at least not on www.shopati.com).

Anyone know something about it??

The AGP version was delayed from Sept. and is supposed to
be shipping now. The PCI version was supposed to be out a
couple of months after the AGP; I don't know if the delay
on the AGP version will affect the shipping for the PCI.
If not, then you should expect to see it around December.

Thanks! :)

I finally got a reply from ATI now (after like 2 weeks almost) about my information request. Apparently they were having some problems replying emails (no idea what the problem was). Here is a quote from the email for those who are intrested:

<< The PCI version of the RADEON All in Wonder 32MB DDR card is scheduled to ship in North America in November, 2000. >>

I think I can wait (although I've got an old ATI 3D Rage Pro 8meg, but I'm not in that much of a hurry). I want the card for the multimedia options, and in PCI so I can update the AGP with a future gaming card and keep the Radeon for the features. I belieave that's a great way to go. :)

The only bad thing about that is that if you use the pci aiw as a secondary with an AGP card, the capture features will not work. You will have to reboot with the PCI as the primary booting card.

Not only will the capture functions not work as the secondary card, but NO multimedia features will work.

This is a drawback of the dual-monitor features of windows. There can be no dd overlay in the second monitor, so that means no capture, no tv, no dvd. Nothing. Nada. Bupkis.

So, why bother?

um... this really does change things... I was hoping for a great solution here, but this just takes it and kicks it in the balls!

Oh well.. I'm going for the AGP then... but it SUCKS SO BAD!!! :|

And when I upgrade... what then! I gotta throw all those great features away! (or be forced to get another AIW :frown: )

Argh! Now I'm really frustrated...

A restart each time I switch between future games or multimedia stuff. :disgust:

aww.. I can't even put it into words... :(

Edit:

You guy's know how well windows transitions between cards (when I switch the cards between primary and secondary alot). If it handles it really badly, drivervise? I guess it just depends on the drivers maby. If I'd do this, I don't want to have any trouble when switching, having to have to do that is bad enough.
