I got a gigacube 9800se yesterday and it still out performed my old ti4200 but not by much i installed power strip aswell as a few other progs and they say my clock/mem is 324/275 (may have been 290 but was under 300 -at work atm) but it is meant to be 324MHz / 580MHz.

What could cause this?

my system is :
gigacube Radeon 9800se
P4 2.0A @2.6ghz (been stable here for about a year)
Asus PB533
2x 7200 hdd's
1 x cd drive.

the only thing i can think of is that i only have a 300 watt PSU could this halve the mem speed of a card, i would have thought if it didnt have the juice it wouldnt work. ?????

help please

And you're correct, the PSU won't affect the memory speed or amount.. Just the stability of the computer.

Thanks, i though about that but i was sure my old t14200 displayed its ddr mem speed as already doubled.

Common mistake.

Now ya know, and the same goes for ram...

PC 3200 400mhz DDR (200 mhz double pumped )

Intel's 800mhz CPUs only need PC 3200 ( 200mhz but it's quad pumped for the *800mhz)

:)

Overclocking is a different story.

It's a 9800 w/ only 4 pipelines enabled. Some have a 128-bit memory interface, some have a 256-bit memory interface.

So if you have one with the 128bit mem then it's basically a fast 9600pro?? ATI's naming scheme is starting to really piss me off.
