radeon 9800pro 256mb crashing..

ok, so my power supply died the other day (was a cheap ass 550 watt i got online) so i went and bought an antec 430 watt powersource. well, for starters, when i turned on the computer with the new powersource it blew a fuse on my circuit.. no idea why that happened. i replaced the fuse, tried again, and it worked..

so my puter is backonline.. now, i have a bigger problem. for some reason my computer crashes after playing a 3d game for a little while.. it crashes sooner if i have the resolution up higher.. i rolled back to the 3.7 catalyst drivers as i'd read the 3.8 have been overheating some cards including the 9800 pro.. that has not helped.

i dont know a lot about computers, so i wasnt sure if maybe its because im only running 430 watts.. heres a rundown of my rig:

ps: antec 430watt truepower
mobo: asus a7v-266e
cpu: amd athlon xp2100 (running at about 1.7ghz)
fans: 4 case fans
hard drives: 2 - 120 gig 7200rpm
video: ati radeon 9800pro 256mb w/ 3.7 catalyst drivers & directx 9.0b
sound: sound blaster audigy
nic: SMC EZ card 10/100
drives: Toshiba DVD-ROM
Plextor CD writer

any and all help is greatly appreciated!

also, i guess i should mention that when it crashes it sometimes makes a really high pitches sound in the speakers. once i got a blue screen, but most of the time the screen just freezes.

before the power source had failed i'd noticed in games that the graphics would start to look werird, like have black dots on stuff and look a little fuzzy or jarbled (best way i can describe it).. when i upgraded to 3.8 it seemed to fix that but i think that the catalyst 3.8 drivers may have been responsible, as i can remember my game crashed before the power source failure, and i am even thinkin that since the power source was a POS maybe the video card crashing the machine fubar'd the power source.. tho im not an expert, i am just guessing!

i installed them but its still crashing.. ive now placed a small fan by the card blowing on it and games are stable now at low resolutions, but too high and they crash.. does this mean that the card is messed up, and if so could it have been the catalyst 3.8 drivers?

I would get that sucker RMA'ed and buy that vantec fan card and you should be good. Maybe the ventilation in your case isnt adequete enough for the card. They should list that on the boxes as a requirement, good case ventilation lol.
