Radeon 9800

I have a quick question. I have a Radeon 9800 and this game known as Chaos Legion and I put the in game settings to max in everything that is related to graphics.

And I maxxed out my graphics card settings putting everything from anti alising to 3D settings. And I started to play the game but it was very slow and choppy. But then I put the in game graphics to its lowest settings and kept the graphics card at its max and the game runs smoothly.

What causes the game to get choppy if the in game settings are high? And does it really matter if the in game graphics are on a low setting if the actual graphics card is at its hightest setting?

Is there away to make games less choppy without changing the settings on graphics card?
You can lower your resolution. . . . disable Vsynch and/or lower your AA/AF settings . . .

. . . however, ALL of these changes require you to adjust your CP.

Of course, you CAN make a "profile" for each game . . . 😉
edit: (most games allow you to do this . . . as long as you do not "force" settings in CP . . .
. . . in other words, leave your CP on "application preference" . . . )
