does anyone know how to set the refresh rates that the games play in? its allways defaulting to 60hz

There are two ways to handle this:
  • Find a refresh rate utility like RefreshForce or Powerstrip. Both are relatively easy to use. RefreshForce is a little easier and it is a "set it and forget it" app. Once set, all resolutions will use their maximum allowable refresh rates.
  • Use the drivers/control panel to override the refresh rate. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display. On Display Properties, go to the Settings tab (usually the last lab) and click Advanced... . On the next dialog, click on the Displays tab. Click on the monitor picture that resembles your monitor - the button is near the top. On the Monitor Attributes, click on the Attributes Tab and look for the DirectX Override Refresh Rate. I think changing it to Same as Desktop or the actual resolution that you use should allow it to work in games correctly. Even though it says DirectX, it is said to work for DirectX and OpenGL.

If you have any questions, let me know. Good luck.
