I really don't need a graphics card upgrade yet, but I've decided to buy a new card anyway:D I currently have a Radeon 9800 Pro and I'm looking for a card that is much more faster, so that upgrade is cost-effective. I'm currently thinking about two cards: X800XL and 6800GT. And at this moment I'm leaning a bit towards 6800GT. Those two cards cost almost the same here in Finland (6800GT is a bit cheaper). After that when you go for better performing cards (6800 Ultra for example) there's quite a jump higher in price and not much difference in performance. So X800XL or 6800GT is more cost-effective than X800XT or 6800 Ultra.

So what's your opinion? Which card I should choose? X800XL or 6800GT? You can suggest different card than those if you like;)

6800GT
Smartshader 3.0
SLI that works today.

Or wait 2 months as prices may drop when the ATI R520 comes out and the 7800GT.

Oh yeah I forgot to say that the graphics card should also be "future proof" so that I don't have to upgrade for a long time! And graphics card that I'm looking for should be AGP (if that matters).

Easily 6800GT, with its better feature set and similar performance.

That is also besides the fact that should you want to OC, you can get to Ultra performance easily.

If the price is the same, then definitely get the 6800gt - it has newer features, and can OC better

the closest thing to future proof - now - is the 7800GTX . . . on your list would be the 6800gt.

me? - i have a 9800xt and i'm waiting until r520 . . . i really do expect a significant price drop this Fall and haven't run across a new game that isn't tolerable at at least mid/high details - at least at my resolutions of 10x7 and 11x8.

Forget future proof, neither of those cards are(even with SM3 factored in). Since the GT is cheaper/(approx same $), get it.
