I installed a newly RMA'd 9800 Pro 128 MB (built-by-ATI) and the system refused to start, not a peep, no fans, nothing. The LED next to the AGP slot was glowing red. The manual says that this is a power protection circuit that prevents you from using a 3.3V AGP card. Huh?
I put another card in the slot (a Radeon 7500 Pro) and the system booted just fine. I really don't want to try the replacement 9800 in another machine for fear of it doing damage.
Any ideas here? Is the replacement card bad? I did confirm that the molex plug supplying the card was delivering power.
Thanks.
