Radeon 9800 Pro Core Question

I don't follow the graphics card market very closely, so I am new to lots of this (so please bear with me). I occasionally see discussions here about the core type of Radeon cards. What is this "core", and what types are there for a Radeon 9800 Pro? And of those types, which is preferred among 9800 Pro users here? I am pondering the thought of buying a 9800 Pro, and I'd like to be as informed as possible.

Thanks!

the 9800pro comes with a rv350 core. some 9800pros come with a rv360, the 360 is the core used on 9800xt's so its possible to flash your 9800pro's bios with a 9800xt's and there you have it, a 9800xt for the price of a pro. the r360 has temp monitering and overdrive which the r350 doesnt. its luck if you get a 9800pro with a r360

Many manufacturers are now putting the 360 core on the 9800p which uses the 350 core. 360 is the 9800xt core but it is of course set to 9800 speeds in bios. The only way u know for sure what core it comes with is to remove the heatsink and fan which I do not recommend you doing. If you want a 9800p then get one and be happy with it, it is a very good card eventhough the new gen is out.
