Is there any way to tell from the Serial Number or anything on the outside of the packaging if the video card inside has Samsung memory chips?

I could be mistaken (wouldn't be the first, won't be the last) but I think I've seen people selling 9800Ps in the FS/FT forum with Infineon ramchips. And some Hynix chips, too.

My 9800PRO has Hynix chips as well, and it runs at 365 (730DDR) with no artifacts. Might even go higher, haven't pushed it yet. I believe 365 is the stock memory speed for the 9800XT.

I think the infineon vs samsung deal was with the 9800np back in the day. There was a different serial number ID on the 9800np for samsung vs infineon.
The infineon on the 9800np was the bad deal compared to the 9800np with samsung. Back in the day, the 9800np with samsung would OC very well wheres the ones with infineon would not. I think the samsung was 2.2ns and the infineon was 2.8ns.
