I have a 2-1/2 year old system (A64 3200+, 1GB memory) with a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB AGP video card. I am thinking about replacing the CRT with a Samsung 215TW, which is a 21" wide screen LCD monitor with 1680x1050 native resolution.

Will my Radeon 9800 Pro be able to drive the Samsung? Do you see any problems?

Thanks for the help!

if catalyst doesn't support thatres by default, you surely can create it with some tweak utility.

For practical purposes, NO.

With a radeon 9800pro you will be gaming at 800*600 or 1024*768 at the max.

Thank you all for your help!

The consensus seems to be that it'll work for such mundane activities as word processing and web surfing, but not for serious gaming.

What about viewing movies/videos from dvd? Can 9800Pro handle that?

Thanks again!

I have a 9700 non pro and I play many games just fine at 1600 x 1200 on my 2001FP. If you are a serious gamer you would probably want more, but it will run most things, including movies and DVD's perfectly fine.

My 9500Pro is pushing my Dell 2005FPW 1680x1050. Movies and non-gaming is fine. I can play most games fine at that res except for newer games.
